Graphics 2, or Intermediate Graphic Design, is a course dedicated to building design experience based upon the technical skill acquired in the introductory course. Advanced students will tackle complex design problems and learn additional tools to aid their work. Students will pursue deeper understanding of graphic processes and elements such as type, color theory, advanced compositing, and layout design. The students will be given hypothetical companies and situations that require some form of graphic design, and must create an attractive solution to that demand. Students might create posters, logos, menus, pamphlets, magazine layouts, stylized text effects, or illustrative art. One of the purposes of the class is to prepare students for personal expansion of their graphic arts experience, so that they might be prepared to advance towards trade-oriented education or pursue the graphic arts independently after high school.
